Zebra Finch Tapestry

A depiction of the FOXP2 gene which is required for the proper development of speech and language in animals. FOXP2 enables songbirds, like the zebra finch, to imitate, learn and express language through complex song. The ability to express meaning through vocalizations enables zebra finches to position themselves in the world and broadcast messages across distance searching for a response.
